1993 "Renie was exceptional. I considered her to be my most able
volunteer. Renie made every effort to improve her skills and increase her
knowledge. She took a Slingerland course during the summer of 1992 and joined me
in a Total Reading course in the fall of 1992. She was especially interested in
the learning disabled student. Her rapport was excellent with these students and
she had very positive behavior management skills." K.S.F., Teacher

1993 "Mrs. Smith spent the majority of her time this year with emergent
readers in the first grade. She is very adept at the teaching of phonetic skills,
having been trained in the Slingerland methods and the Total Reading program.
Each student with which she has worked has made great gains in their ability to
read. The students have grown very fond of Mrs. Smith. She is patient, friendly,
and can also get all students to cooperate and do their work." G.B.,

1993 "I have been most impressed with Mrs. Smith's interest in, and
understanding of, the reading process. She took a class on reading instruction
with our staff last year. She brought her own manual and used the strategies
with first graders. Children made good progress. Mrs. Smith has been a
supportive, concerned and active parent. She is knowledgeable, articulate and
conscientious." C.B., Principal.
